BSBP EIGHT REVEAL!!!

The day has come to reveal my BSBP pieces. This is a first for me and I was very fortunate to be paired with Agata who has similar colour tastes to me. Although I chose seeds I wanted to challenge myself so I decided to use wire and chain. I still designed freeform pieces because I like to show a bit of me in every piece I do. I do think my pieces look fairly beginner and did somewhat deviate from my original plans but I love them none the less.

My main piece is a freeform beaded pendant incorporating many of the beads that Agata sent. I had originally had a very spherical concept true to my inspiration (Davinci's Demons) designed but it was all too bulky and the star was much more suited to a flowing design. The wire wrapping was a huge challenge and I had to try to make the colours gel with the clasp. This is very true to Clarice Orsini's style in the show, she wears a layered necklace with lots of different elements so I have named it Clarice.

The next challenge I set myself was a wire bracelet. I kept adding and twisting and adding until I was happy with the end result. I love this and have worn it every day. This reminded me of a hair piece full of beautiful flowers, something that Vanessa Moschella, a free spirited character would wear. Hence this piece is called Vanessa.

Last but not least are the earrings I designed. My one issue with these earrings are the wires are a different colour. I want to be able to wear them as I love them but I cannot tolerate base metals in my ears so sterling it is. They are something that Lucrezia would wear. So they are to be named Lucrezia I hope I have done my beautiful soup from Agata justice as she has done with mine.

There is just one thing left to say and that is a HUGE thank you to my swap partner Agata and the wonderful Ms Lori who despite challenges was able to put together this wonderful party. Also to everyone who has supported me behind the scenes.

Please don't just stop by my blog, check out the host Blog: Pretty Things and all the wonderful links. Please don't forget to see what Agata did with her soup at Inaurem.

  6. I was like: WOW! when I saw the star necklace. How did you do that? It's really cute and it doesn't have a beginner's look at all.

    1. I didn't get too much of a close up of the wire wrapping lol. It is definitely rustic but it's functional and I learnt a lot. The pendant is two peyote tube rings bent to my will lol.

  19. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I admit that I get really nervous showing off my work. I am never truly happy with a piece and I had to take a leap of faith and put these up before I had a chance to check for bits of thread or sand back the finishes etc lol.

  39. Corrie, thank you for visiting my blog. Your BSBP creations are great. You think outside of the box. I love the way you've encapsulated the main star with beadweaving in the necklace.I love everything in fact. About your allergy to earwires, have you tried niobium? It is hypoallergic and you can find it in many colours.

  40. Corrie, I love that you pushed yourself to try something new. I love that captured star necklace. And that wired bracelet looks like it was awfully fun to do.

  48. Your creations are very close to my heart, they show two techniques I like the look of - freeform beading and wire wrapping. The earrings are my favorite piece, however, because they are so intricate and because you have been bold enough to use sterling ear wires - I have the same problem and don't wear copper/bronze/yellow color earrings for this reason but now I see I can use a different color :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. The first is very pretty, the beads look like little bubbles. But the wire bracelet... I would wear that every day too!!! It's very interesting- I would probably spend all my time wearing it- tracing the wire and twisting it on my wrist, I don't think I'd be able to stop touching it. It's very beautiful. The earrings make it a nice rounded set. Beautiful!

  54. It always amazes me what people do with seed beads. I fear them. And they only show up as spacers in my work. But you worked magic! I especially love the swirling star pendant. And I am a huge fan of mixing metals - to me they are just colors in a palette! Thank you for sharing your talents in the 8th Bead Soup. Enjoy the day! Erin
